Alquerque is known as one of the oldest strategy board games with a large number of „offsprings”, including Dama, Draughts or Checkers. One of its earliest depiction can be found in temple of Seti I at Qurna, Egypt, from the 13th century BC. The game gained wide popularity on its Spanish name Alquerque, deriving from Arabic Quirkat. This highest-quality reconstruction is the second piece in the AGON – Ancient Games of Nations series, a collection of amazing traditional board games for iPad.

Alquerque is a typical combat game. The objective is to capture or at least block all of the opponent’s pieces. You can play in single- or local two-player mode on a single device, at the difficulty level of your choice from beginner to advanced.

The framework application that comes with AGON - Ancient Games Of Nations is a virtual box which has twelve compartments to accommodate further board games. These will be made available one by one by Private Moon Studios. All AGON board games purchased will automatically integrate in the collection. The series will include various game types from all over the world: ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Japan, Korea and many more. The first title, AGON - The Royal Game of Ur is available free.

About AGON:
The title AGON could be familiar from the critically acclaimed adventure game series about the travels of British Museum professor Samuel Hunt, which have earned a cult status among adventure gamers around the world. Alquerque is also featured in adventure game AGON – The Lost Sword of Toledo. Although the Ancient Games Of Nations collection is not an adventure game, it can be deemed AGON’s spiritual successor in terms of quality.
